Fri April 17th Mowbird + Tiny Minds + Stations @ Bar UP above Cookies

£6/5adv from Revo /frequent doggers. JSA free entry.

The start of a trial series of gigs for us upstairs at Cookies Bar if it works then we will use for some shows in addition to using Arden Road Social Club. So first up...welcome Mowbird a slacker-pop quartet from Wrexham, North Wales.

Mowbird, formed by Ben Sawin (vocals/guitar) and Mike Smith (bass) with the later additions of Suzanne Dempsey (organ/vocals) and Ben Valentine Trow (drums/vocals), they self recorded and self released four EPs (Excellent, OK / Ilk / We Sell Maternity Swimwear / The Quiet Despair Of The Starship Enterprise) before signing to Cardiff based Shape Records.

Debut album Islander was released in February 2014, preceded by single Happy Active Horse Organ which garnered radio play by Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Bethan Elfyn & Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales) as well as Tom Ravenscroft & Marc Riley (6music), the latter for whom the band recorded a session and followed up the success of the album with a collaboration with fellow Welsh popster Sweet Baboo.

The Tiny Minds are an all original three piece leaving a trail of creativity, inspired by genius, journeys and their surroundings.
This is the third time playing at Doghouse.

Stations are a two piece Alternative/Rock Duo from Hebden Bridge mixing Pop Harmonies with Rock Riffs. Currently working on their new EP to be released in the summer.
