Arthur Rigby & the Baskervylles

Arthur Rigby & the Baskervylles are an 8-piece Orchestral Pop band, based in Leeds. The sound the band creates is a genuinely beautiful mixing pot of lush orchestrations, poetic lyrics, romantic melodies and powerful energy.

'Wonderfully sweeping, intricate and majestic pop songs distinctly of the "they don't write them like that anymore" category’ The Beat Surrender

'quintessentially English'; 'impressively ambitious' Leeds Music Scene

'Reminiscent of Neil Hannon's finer moments.' Sandman Magazine

‘Gorgeous’ Tom Robinson BBC 6 Introducing

The music is the invention of front man and guitarist Benjamin, scoring songs for violin, piano, double bass, trumpet, trombone, Saxophone and flute. Originally a 2-piece, with drummer Alex joining Benjamin, the Leeds based duo used orchestral backing arranged on laptops with samples and programming.

Arthur Rigby have become firm favourites of BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson, who regularly features the band on his show. As their following begins to grow at a substantial rate, the band are developing quite a buzz attracting labels and management alike.

2011 started well with a BBC Introducing West Yorkshire acoustic session for Alan Raw. Having sold out venues in London and Leeds the band appeared live at Live at Leeds, Liverpool Sound City, Reading and Leeds Festival and Deer Shed Festival and working on a new EP in July, scheduled for an early 2012 release.

The Mexanines

The Mexanines are a three piece from Bradford, combining big riffs and flowing melodies, with toe tapping beats to get the audience moving. They've played a whole host of venues like the Bingley Music Live Festival 2010, The Factory in Manchester, and The O2 Academy Leeds; It was here in fact the band won a competition that confirmed their slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds and Reading 2011. Their bluesy indie/rock is as tight as their jeans.

By Toutatis

By Toutatis are a folky post-rock quartet based in various places along the Northeast coast of England. Three quarters of the band became acquainted during their stint in Middlesbrough band Idiot Savant.

By Toutatis sing slightly murky songs about history and books, usually involving eerie violins, sad pianos and plaintive harmonies.

The group are named after Asterix's catchphrase, in the same way that people nowadays might say "By Jove!" or "Ee ba gum". Toutatis (A.K.A. Teutates) was a Celtic god, and according to Wikipedia "victims sacrificed to Teutates were killed by being plunged headfirst into a vat filled with an unspecified liquid".

By Toutatis don't necessarily condone this.

Hey Zeus!

Bash Bash. Sing Sing. So many drums. More hooks than a euphemism. Paul Simon with a Tune-Yards shaped boot up it's arse.

The Oreoh’s

Making a welcome return to the DOGHOUSE, the coolest teenagers in town playing Ramones inspired pop with attitude and surprising lyrics.
