Beat Mark

Beat Mark is composed of 2 boys (Julien and Gaëtan, formerly from Adam Kesher) and 2 girls (Chloé, former drummer for Yussuf Jerusalem, and Karin). Not long after we started the band a debut cassette was released by the Southern Californian label Burger Records. Our first LP ‘Howls of Joy’, which was out on Final Taxi Records (Paris) in France, was released internationally by the London-based label Ample Play in February 2013 and got pretty good reviews here and there. Here are a few from the British press and radio:

'I've listened to the album so many times this week I love it' Tom Ravenscroft, BBC 6 Music

‘Great record, sounds like they should be from California’ Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music

Also an entry on the Louder than War blog

You can have a listen at our music if you fancy it http://snd.sc/XgMtU3 (this is the complete ‘Howls of Joy’ album) and may check the souncloud of Soft Power Records which has recently put out an EP cassette, ‘Move on’, of 6 of our new songs https://soundcloud.com/soft-power.

The Ruckus

The Ruckus is a five piece indie band hailing from Halifax, West Yorkshire. Playing an eclectic mix of songs ranging from the monster riffs of Must Be The Music and Lairy Nights to the funk laden “You Only Like Me Coz I’m In A Band” with its retro sounding wah wah guitars and sing along outro, and the infectious, bass driven beats of “Help A Brother”.

With a solid catalogue of original material, we aim take you on a musical journey with our modern, poetic lyrics that tell truthful narratives of the lives and times of the youth of today.

Based in Leeds Fold are a live downtempo / trip-hop 4 piece consisting of founder Seth Mowshowitz on synths & samples, Kane Rattray on drums, Ben Walsh on bass and Josh Gardziel on guitar. They integrate speech into music in experimental ways in order to reflect some of the more difficult truths of the world. The message carried in all of their music is based on a fundamental belief that equal societies are better for everyone.

Fold support organisations dedicated to bringing about global equality including the Tax Justice Network, Kiva and The Equality Trust. Fold’s latest single Mr President We’re In Trouble (ft. Jimmy Carter) is out now on limited edition blood red 7’ vinyl and digital download. 75% of profits from digital sales will go to the Equality Trust.
On March 19th Mr President was nominated for an Independent Music Award and has since generated national and international interest.

“Brilliant” – Lauren Lavern, BBC 6 Music

“ They make it back onto this weeks play list through sheer musical ability.” – Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

“This is political; it’s intelligent and it’s music with something to say. Fold force you to sit up and listen, and they leave you with more questions than answers.” – Caroline Moors, No TiTLE magazine (Leeds)
